You may be surprised just how big the blind spots on heavy goods vehicles can be. Remember if you can’t see the driver, the driver can’t see you.

They know how to go true red lights and give the two fingers to drivers who let them know what they have done. End of story.
Why don’t we work to separate out different types of road users to ensure vulnerable road users aren’t put in dangerous situations? Why don’t we work on reducing the need for large HGVs to drive into dense urban areas? Safety and awareness are so important but in this country we haven’t even started to think outside the box
I’m not suggesting anything about truck drivers. Most of them are doing an excellent job. And I’m not saying anything about cyclist or motorcyclists – who are a pretty mixed bunch. And I’m not saying anything about the video – whether its real or fake. My mother died when a truck drove over her – she was a pedestrian – because – as the driver said – he never saw her. What I’m saying is that I think it would be really constructive if the RSA would turn their attention to the design and equipment of trucks to eliminate blind spots. That’s all.
